We’re halfway into the first month of the year but are already counting down to the release of a lot of promising games. Some new stories, some building further on stories that are already told. Studios are teasing ambitious projects, long awaited sequels, and entirely new IPs that aim to push storytelling, immersion, and technical boundaries even further. Here are some of the games set for 2026 that we are genuinely excited to get our hands on.
1. Grand Theft Auto VI ~ 19 November 2026
You could probably see this one coming from a kilometer away, but this AAA game is going to be a celebration for PC and console gamers alike, after 13 years. Yes, its release has received delays, but we are happy to wait if it means that Rockstar Games will bring us another polished iconic game. It took Nintendo about 6 years to bring us Tears of the Kingdom after they blessed us with Breath of the Wild, with a year of delay after its announcement, but it was another masterpiece. We hope that GTA will be worth the wait just as much!
2. Resident Evil 9 ~ 27 February 2026
The residents are back at being evil again, and our favourite agent Leon is back on a new case together with FBI intelligence analyst Grace Ashcroft. If you’re not familiar with this series yet, we highly recommend getting up to speed, after your exams of course, in case you are a student. The two characters will be playable in different ways: as Grace you will play in third person, a full horror experience using limited resources. As Leon, you play first person, packed with guns and action.
3. 007 First Light ~ 27 May 2026
If you ever daydreamed about becoming a spy, This will be your chance. The upcoming James Bond game lets you step into the shoes of a young, ambitious 007 at the
very start of his MI6 career. This is a brand new James Bond origin story, following a resourceful and sometimes reckless recruit as he earns his place in the revived Double 0 programme.
Expect classic 007 gameplay with a modern twist. Stealth, gadgets, espionage and action driven missions all play a key role as you learn what it really takes to become the world’s most famous secret agent.
