Start shoppingIt’s been a busy three months since the launch of REGEN™ in June - although our brand is still new, the team have been working on our innovative frames and lenses for much longer!
The REGEN™ Colour Enhancing lenses are entirely new to the gaming glasses arena. With any new product, comes a lot of questions;
Put simply, the REGEN™ colour enhancing lenses are designed to give more depth to colours on a screen, making them more defined and ‘pop’ - rather than appearing flat and dull.
To explain how the lenses work, we asked Nick, Innovation Director at Inspecs & the brains behind REGEN™ to break it down for us:
The way we see colours is based on three cones in the eye that are sensitive to red, green and blue light. These three cone cells send signals to your brain to firstly spark recognition of the colour and secondly, to signal the different parts of the colour spectrum. The more colours and shades we are exposed to, the more these cells work to perceive them in the right way.
Then, by increasing the depth that we see in these colours, gameplay becomes more immersive.
To create the lenses we use optical dyes, lens material innovations and unique manufacturing techniques. Our lenses stimulate the brain’s colour processing centre, so colours look deeper and more enhanced.
Yes, whilst the lenses will give a new level of depth to all gameplay, this current version of the colour enhancing lens works best on autumnal colours; think reds, oranges, yellows & browns.
The REGEN™ team have spent a lot of time testing the lenses on different games (it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!) and found that this version of the lenses work particularly well on first person shooter games, such as Call of Duty Warzone and games such as Valorant, League of Legends, as well as Dota 2.
Our lens testers have also reported that the colour enhancing lenses give a competitive edge in destabilising moments, such as a flash bang in Counter Strike. As Danny Aarons suggested, the lenses sharpen details that you may have previously missed in games such as fortnite. Read more on this here.
"Got these as a gift and at first I was skeptical but these lenses are unlike anything i've tried before. Everything is sharper and I just feel more on it in the game."
In the future, the REGEN™ team will release variations of the colour enhancing lenses which target different areas of the colour spectrum and enhance more than the current autumnal palette - so depending on your game of choice, you will be able to pick a lens to match.
As well as the experience-enhancing effects of the lenses, they also block 40% of the most harmful blue light, which means that you can get deeper into the game whilst still protecting your eyes.
Gaming for long periods of time can affect your sleep - but by wearing REGEN™ gaming glasses during your sessions, you can bet on a much better night's sleep; leaving you refreshed and ready for the next day.
Gamers who are using REGEN™ gaming glasses as part of their everyday set-up also report experiencing an improvement in headaches/migraines and dry eyes brought on by gaming, as well as better overall focus and concentration.
You can read more about the benefits of REGEN™ blue light filters here.
Alongside the increased depth in colour, sharpened detail and blue light blocking benefits, users of the colour enhancing lenses have also reported a feeling of screen magnification when wearing them during gameplay.
"I wore these playing COD and it was cool, feel closer to the screen even though I'm sat in my normal place"
As many gamers will know, gaming for long periods of time can have a big impact on your posture and moving closer to the screen is something that is coined to give players a competitive advantage - increasing the size of targets and sharpness of key details.
But, sitting in ‘unnatural’ positions for long hours, long term, can cause problems such as:
-Neck pain
-Gamers thumb
-Sciatica
-Mouse shoulder
If your vision is being impacted by long hours at a screen, this could also mean you are altering your posture to compensate. If you find yourself leaning forwards in order to keep gaming when your eyes are past tired, you’re not alone!
In fact, this latest finding has also been found to be more common in young people and children as their hours spent gaming have increased, particularly since the pandemic.
There are ways you can support your posture and long term health; from arranging your space in a way that encourages you to improve your stance, to taking regular breaks to move your body.
With 40% of blue light blocked, including REGEN colour enhancing glasses in your set up adds an extra layer of protection for your eyes, whilst decreasing the need for that ‘gamers lean’.
